McCoart and Messer give Liberty plenty of firepower against Legacy
Cash McCoart caught 209 yards’ worth of passes Friday in Frisco, and Liberty Christian needed all the room that production created. The Warriors beat Legacy Christian 56–35 to finish the regular season 8–2 and unbeaten in six district games.
Crews Messer threw for 349 yards, completed 80 percent of his passes and supplied three touchdown passes. That is a quarterback making very good use of his evening.
Legacy had an answer sheet of its own. Cade Lynch passed for 348 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Braden Harbour caught passes for 247 yards and three scores, and Jack Caswell rushed for 126 yards on 15 carries. Those numbers explain why Liberty could hardly afford to leave its offense parked in neutral.
The Eagles finished 6–4. Liberty’s 21-point win followed a 57–28 victory over Bishop Lynch, giving the Warriors 113 points across their final two regular-season games.
Liberty has supplied plenty of evidence that it can score. The postseason will ask how well the rest of the operation holds up when the other offense starts putting up numbers, too.
