Shadow Creek answers unbeaten Pearland with 55 points and a strong finish

Pearland came in unbeaten and left with a 55–35 loss. Shadow Creek did enough Friday to earn the headline, including some defensive work that should not get buried beneath those 55 points.

The Oilers led 14–7 after the first quarter. Shadow Creek scored 28 in the second and went to halftime ahead 35–28. The Sharks then outscored Pearland 20–7 after the break. Both teams are now 8–1.

Pearland’s fourth-quarter total was zero. After allowing four first-half touchdowns, Shadow Creek’s defense helped shut off the scoring when the game needed to be finished.

That is a more useful result than a big offensive number by itself. Shadow Creek had to respond after another unbeaten team took the early lead. The Sharks responded, kept scoring and improved their defensive position as the night went along.

Put this one in the November file. Pearland made the examination worthwhile, and Shadow Creek gave some convincing answers.
