Central scores 80, Keller scores 49, and defense gets the homework

Keller put 49 points on the board Friday and finished 31 points behind. Keller Central won 80–49, a score that ought to keep the offensive meetings cheerful and the defensive meetings considerably shorter on compliments.

The Chargers scored 33 in the second quarter and led 43–28 at halftime. Keller cut the deficit to 52–43 entering the fourth. Whatever the final score suggests, Central still had a game to finish.

The Chargers finished it with 28 fourth-quarter points while allowing six. Their second and fourth quarters produced 61 points. That is an impressive answer to an opponent trying to climb back into the game.

Central is 7–2. Keller is 6–3. Give the Chargers their due for pulling away when the lead had shrunk to nine. Then hand both defenses the film. An offense can cover up a lot of trouble on an 80-point night, but that does not make the trouble disappear.
